Backup Exec 2010 R2 cannot read from by Backup to disk

This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hello,

I have a folder created on my nas ( Qnap TS-859 pro ) and backed up my data, for some reason i cannot recover my data anymore. ( i could in the past. )

The backup to disk folder goes offline everytime i try to do an Inventory. Error 53

Í would like to be able to restore some of my data but at the moment i cannot access it.

( info: i have approx 1461 bkf files of each +/- 4GB and i would like to get a portion back. )

extra info: i have backed up my data to backup-dagelijks-inc and i could not read this back, therefore i tried the following also:

1: i created a new backup to desk folder: backtest

2: i moved all files to that folder

3: i tried an inventory ( with the same offline result )

Who has an idea on how to get my data back ?

Thanks in advance,

Eddy

Hi Eddy,

First-things-first...if you can upgrade to BE 2010 R3, do so. It's got a number of fixes over previous versions of BE 2010.

Next thing...download b2dtest.exe and run it against the B2D folder to make sure there are no issues with it.

Post the full error message too...

Thanks!

Thanks Samueljn,

I was able to restore my data.

i just have one more question,

i have now the 2010R2 version, can i upgrade this to a R3 version with the iso from the trial ?

I do not want to lose my licenses.

Thanks

Eddy

Eddy: As per a couple of my posts below, you can use the ISO for BE 2010 R3 and still use your current licenses. The licenses are the same across both versions.

Thanks!

Hello Craig,

I was not aware that there is a R3, i tried checking before and my release said that it was the latest.

I will check for it and run the recommended tool. thanks.

Error log will be posted.

thanks

Eddy: You can download it here:

http://trialware.norton.com/files/fc/Backup_Exec_2010_13.0.5204_MultiPlatforms_Multilingual_DVD.iso

It might not necessarily fix this product, but it is a recommended upgrade. Install SP2 for BE 2010 R3 with any subsequent patches, and then push-install these patches to your remote servers.

THanks!

You'll never be able to upgrade across the Internet...it would kill the world's connection smiley

It is available as a download in this case. Or on a DVD if you bought the media.

You can also use your same license keys...just grab a copy of your Data/Catalogs folders before performing the upgrade, just in case something goes wrong.

THanks!

I'm seeing several downloads for R3 ( hotfixes and sp1 and sp2 )

but not the actual update from R2 to R3.

Can you provide a downloadlink for 32bits ?

Thanks in advance,

Eddy

The link I posted above is for the ISO itself. Download it and run the install. Both x32 and x64 versions are bundled together. This ISO will upgrade from BE 2010 R2 to R3 as it is intelligent enough to check and see if you have a previous version!
