Backup Exec 2010 R2 / EV 8 SP5

Created: 05 Feb 2013 | 2 comments

Hello,

We use BackupExec 2010 R2 to backup our Enterprise Vault 8 SP5 environment.

The backups keeps on failing, and I believe I have found the actual reason, but cannot understand why this is happening.

We replaced the backup server and since then the issue occurs, selection lists and all are identical than the old one (version as well).

When doing a backup of the Vault Store, the backups runs and completes.

But somehow it wants to start the Vault Store backup a second time, with a failed result as it cannot put the store in backup mode. Which is normal, it was placed in Backup mode by the first time.

This didn't happen on the old backup server, and I really don't get why it is happening.

Anyone has seen this issue before? If yes, any solution known for that?

Permissions/... are all double checked and no problem at all.

If I only backup the databases, there is no issue. The issue only exists with the Store itself.

Could you try deleting entries for EV in NRDSAgent table from BEDB, following the below mentioned steps:

On the Backup Server:

 1. Launch Sql Server Management Studio

2. Open the BEDB

3. Open the NRDS.dbo table

4. Find the entries related to Enterprise Vault severs in question, delete the rows.

Restart beremote service on all the EV servers.

Hope it helps.

Before following the above steps. Please take backup of your BEDB.
