This issue has been solved. See solution.

I am moving VM's from an old SAN into a new SAN. I used the ISCSI iniator service on my backup server to connect to the new LUN's on the new SAN before moving servers over. However now that they are moved over I'm unable to back them up. I'm getting this error "e0009585 - Unable to open a disk of the virtual machine." I don't understand what the problem is. The new LUN's are connected the same way as the old ones. Anything that is on the old SAN backups up fine. Any ideas what the issue is? I'm obviously missing something but I don't know what.

The Job Log shows this for each VM that's on the new SAN and for each disk. This server in question has 3 VMDK files.

Hi,

Check the TN below...it has a couple of scenarios which may/may not fit your issue:

Yeah that doesn't really help me, the backup server can see the LUN's and they show up as offline in disk management. And nothing has changed on the VM's or the VCenter server.

...if they're showing as OFFLINE in Windows then the issue doesn't lie with Backup Exec. You need to fix the disk presentation so they show up as ONLINE and BE should be able to back them up.

Thanks!

Nope, I fixed it, for VMWare they need to show as offline. After I connected the new LUN's I never rebooted the server. Once I rebooted the Backup server I was able to run the backups without any issue.
