Backup Exec 2010 R3 Failer to work with OfficeScanTrend Micro
Created: 13 Nov 2012 | 18 comments
Hi, I have problem with OfficeScan Client on Backup Exec 2010 R3 Server
Whenever OfficeScan is on and running scan .. the backup job fails
i have tried it unloading officeScan .. then it works fine , it completed its job , that is why i realize, there is a real problem with officeScan and backup exec
I have tried disabling officescan's scheduled scan for the backup exec on the Time Window of the backup job..
but to my surprise .. the officeScan is running scan at that time
so is there anything i missed .. could you help me please ..

What is your OfficeScan version ?
As I have several customers with OfficeScan 10 / 10.5 / 10.6 and these run without problems.

Hi,
There would be an exclusion section to the AV. When you find this, put in exclusions for the BE services (all of them) and try this again.
Thanks!

My Anti-virus is OffficeScan 10.6 and about putting BE services on exclusion list of OfficeScan
I have tried disabling scheduled scan and for real-time scan, and included the whole directory of OfficeScan on the program files to exclusion directory.. but still no problem
I am sure the problem is with OfficeScan because , when i try the job with OfficeScan Unloaded , it works fine ...
Sorry my English
I have tried disabling scheduled scan and included the whole directory of OfficeScan on the program files to exclusion directory for real-time scan .. but still the problem continue
whole directory of OfficeScan on the program files to exclusion directory for real-time scan
Not the OfficeScan directory, but the Backup Exec directory should be set for exclusions...
I have never added exclusions for BE in OfficeScan.
Can you please post the exact error message(s) you receive ?

...what works for you might not necessarily work for someone else...
I've had to put in exclusions for McAfee AV and BE, but when I've recommended this for someone with the same AV, it hasn't be the case, so here is an example.

Like I said before, several customers so not 1 occasion.

...try not to take it personally, but it's a generalisation...what works for you, doesn't necessarily work for the next person.
And the fact that not scanning BE's services crops up a lot on the forums shows there is some merit to this as being part of a troubleshooting process.
Cheers!

Sorry Again
what i mean is, I have tried is including all BE directory on program files to Exclusion List of Real time scan of OfficeScan and disabling Sheduled Scan ....
About the Error
Normally it does not give any error , it just stuck
In Job Monitor Window ,the Byte count and Job rate never changes .. only the Elapsed time increases
The Job rate stuck at very slow rate 645Mb/min ( at successful job it runs 1.3Gb/Min)
Have a look at this KB then ~
A slow throughput is observed while running backup of a server that has Trend Micro's OfficeScan realtime scan feature is enabled - http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?pag...
Infact I noticed in one of the backup job selections , on the log the error below
and the selection is on the backup server itself
Samuel: Check below for this error:

Also make sure the RAWS agent isn't being interfered with (like an A V), that port 10000 is open and that the RAWS agent is stopped...
You don't have to necessarily make the change, but check out the TN in any case.
Thanks!

Do you use OfficeScan SmartScanning ?
This uses much less resources on the source machine than conventional scan.

Do you mean real time scan or other? beside reat time scan?
Is it different from real time scan ?
how can i find it? is it included with officescan 10.6?
This is not different from real time scan.
Only the scanning method is different.
Check the OfficeScan documentation how to change from conventional to smart-scan.
