Weekly backup jobs to tape

Question: When a tape becomes full and the 'Appendable Until' column indicates "Not appendable (Media full)" and the 'Overwrite Protection Until' date is set for a date in November, will this tape only become Overwriteable once the date in November rolls around?

Is there a way to make this tape Overwriteable now - without having to replace the tape?

Tape will become overwritable once the Overwrite Protection Period ends.

If you move the tape to the scratch media set it will become overwritable immediately.
