Backup exec 2010 for SBS 2008 preinstall SQL warning

Hello,

The preinstall warns me that an older version of SQL has been detected that can't be used:

  • !  for SBS Monitoring, version 2005 sp2.
  • X for Microsoft ##SSEE

We're on a French standard 2008 SBS server.

What should I install or manually upgrade (Windows update stating all is clear)  ?

Thanks for your kind help,

Jean-Jacques

Hi there, If that older SQL

Hi there,

If that older SQL version is for an older version of Backup Exec, allow the installation to continue as per normal.
If it hosts other applications however, I would find out whether or not those applications support the version of SQL that will be installed...

If you find this is a solution, please mark it as such.

Hi Craig, I've not been

Hi Craig,

I've not been precise enough:

It is a fresh install of SBS2008 and a fresh install of Backup exec, none before, no migration etc.

I should have translated preinstall Backup exec warning as this : SQL server 2005 sp2 has been detected. It is a too old version for Backup exec 2010. Choose to install a new instance of SQL Express or choose an existing instance of SQL Server 2005 (sp3 or higher) or of SQL Server 2008 during installation.

In SBS 2008 I know SQL Express is used by SharePoint Services and wish to preserve this.

Thanks for any info,

Jean-Jacques
