Backup Exec 2010 small business edition and licenses

Created: 23 Jan 2013 | 3 comments

We have Backup Exec 2010 Small Business Edition with the option to upgrade to 2013 as we are still under subscription.  We currently have the Media server installed on our Windows 2008 SBS server.   Could this be installed on another server and still comply with the licensing?

Not with BE 2010 SBS license, the media server for that vrsion has to be on an SBS server.

BE 2012 SBE however is designed to protect up to 3 servers and does not have to be installed on an SBS server. The licensing model is however slightly changed for the possible 2 remote servers.

OK so if I upgrade from 2010 to 2012 (we are under subscription so can upgrade for free) we could install it on a non sbs server?

Thanks
