This issue has been solved. See solution.

IHAC that wants to use Cisco NAS Appliance (Cisco NSS3100), and I can't find any information (in the HCL) about this being supported when we want to utilize Deduplication Option.

This is connected via CIFS, and my question is simply

- Can this be done?

Are you trying to backup from it or use it as a backup storage / target device?

If you are going to create the dedup folder on the NAS, then it cannot be done because the dedup folder must be created on a storage which is directly connected to the media server.  If you are going to back up a CIFS share on the NAS, then it can be done.  Make sure that you have purchased and installed a RAWS licence on the media server for backing up the NAS.
