Backup Exec 2012 and Exchange 2007

This issue has been solved. See solution.

My company bought 1 license for server and 2 windows agent licenses. I want to backup windows server 2012 r2 with exchange 2007. I installed server on separate machine and then installed windows agent on exchange server. Full backup was successful. When I checked for edb there were none.

My question is can I use windows agent, not exchange to backup exchange ? Is exchange agent must for backing up exchange in this case one server 2007 ?

If I install Symantec server exec 2012 on my exchange server can I backup exchange server then, without exchange agent ?

This is very important because I must plan my backup strategy.   Can someone help me ?

You CANNOT backup Exchange application without the Exchange Agent.

Remote agent for Window without Exchange Agent license will backup only flat files.

So no matter you install BE on a different server or an Exchange server you still need an Exchange

Agent to backup Exchange.
