Hi,

I have a Dell R720 server running Windows 2008 R2 and running MS SQL 2008 / R2 database.

The MS SQL Database has my production data.

Can I just connect my SAS tape drive to my server and install backup exec and use my existing SQL Database as repository for BE 2012 ?

Thanks,

Paul

Yes SQL 2008 R2 and 2008 R2 SP1 are supported. However, I would suggest you to install Backup Exec database on its own instance. Any updates performed on your production SQL, if not compatible with Backup Exec Database may make your Backup Exec installation down.
