backup exec 2012 backup and restore tab

Created: 30 Jul 2014 | 1 comment

A few very basic questions relating to backup exec 2012:

1) On the backup and restore tab - how accurate is the data held with the last backup column

2) How do servers appear in the backup and restore tab in the BE 2012 console, i.e. how do you register a new server in backup exec? Or is it doing an inventory of your network and reporting the status of all servers - or just those "registered in BE?"

Hi,

I am not sure about question 1)  I think it would depend on when the backup last ran, the selection list and the backup options chosen.

 2) To add a new server you would just click 'add' and go through the wizard.  The wizard gives you the option to establish a trust and to install or update the remote agent.  If a server has the remote agent installed it is recognized by Backup Exec and automatically added.  https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/blogs/backup-exec-install-blog-add-server-wizard
