Backup Exec 2012 Download

Created: 13 Oct 2012 • Updated: 15 Oct 2012 | 2 comments
This issue has been solved. See solution.

We have used Veritas/Backup Exec for years and find the product reliable and one of the best on the market. We just purchased the latest version and have had nothing but issues just getting the product to download and extracted. Multiple sites have been used to download the zipped files and no matter whether we use the managed download or single download paths - nothing works. The files say they download successfully but have a file type of 1of2 and 2of2. The obvious thing to do is rename them to the zip extension by removing the ".1of2" and ".2of2" from the file name and the system identifies them appropriately as zipped archives. The problem is they say the files are not able to be extracted and wants us to download again and again. The downloads are the right size from the web site. What method should be used to extract them other than the windows extraction or WinZip? We have tried both.

I think you are doing them wrongly

I hope you are downloading from File connect and pretty straight instructions:

All Backup Exec 2012 product files and components are listed below. In order to obtain the complete Backup Exec 2012 image, download the following files to the same directory:
Backup_Exec_2012_14.0_SP1_MultiPlatforms_Multilingual.zip.1of2
Backup_Exec_2012_14.0_SP1_MultiPlatforms_Multilingual.zip.2of2
Backup_Exec_2012_14.0_SP1_MultiPlatforms_Multilingual.zip.cmd

After downloading the files, combine them by double-clicking Backup_Exec_2012_14.0_SP1_MultiPlatforms_Multilingual.zip.cmd. The files will be combined to form the full DVD image. Use a DVD authoring tool to burn the ISO to a physical DVD which you can use to install the product.

Make sure to download all the files in one folder.

It is better to download the entire ISO image rather than the parts and joining them.  You can go to www.backupexec.com, click on the trailware section and download the entire ISO image.  When you use this image, it will first extract the files to ensure the integrity of the image before proceeding with the installation.

BE 2012 is quite different from previous versions of BE.  I would suggest that you read my artcle below before proceeding.
