Backup Exec 2012 - Exchange 2007 Incremental GRT Backups Fail during Update Catalogs

This issue has been solved. See solution.

Using Backup Exec 2012 SP1a running weekly Full GRT backup which appear to run fine.

Daily Incremental GRT backups however will get stuck on "Updating Catalogs" and time out after 15 hours. 

This of course will leave the VSS Writer in a "Waiting for Completion" state requiring a reboot of Exchange.

Any advice?

...rebooting the server will always return the VSS writers to normal status.

Check the TN below and reregister the VSS *.dlls and see if this has any effect on the server in question:
