There is no problem running BE on your Exchange server.  However, you need to be mindful of the load on the server when BE is running its backups.  Although most backups are done at night, there could be still users using Exchange or the server could be replicating to other servers, etc.  As long as the load is tolerable, then it is o.k. to go ahead.
