Backup Exec 2012 Media server cluster issue
Created: 13 Feb 2013 | 7 comments
Hi,
We have Backup Exec 2012 media server in cluster,
Primary and secondary Backup Exec 2012 media server.
Few days before, the primary Backup Exec 2012 media server went offline, then backup exec control went to secondary Backup Exec 2012.
but once Primary backup Exec 2012 came back to online, backup exec 2012 control is still in secondary backup Exec 2012 media server, its not coming to primary backup Exec media server.
Can any one help on this issue, to fix asap.
Thank you

You can move the resources on the other server using the failover cluster manager.
...it is either manual, or done automatically so check your cluster setup and make the necessary changes if you want it to run on 1 node only...
Thanks!

Hi,
Can you please tell me, how can move resources manually, by using failover cluster manager ?
thank you.
right-click --> failover? You need to get to grips with Windows to answer that!

Hi,
I tried to move resource, but no luck. shall i remove backup exec from cluster and reconfigure again ?
If we do like this, it wont affect data or any data loss happen ?
anyone guide me.
Thank you
You can try running the cluster configuration wizard again from within BE and see if this fixes. If you remove BE to redo it, stop the services first and grab copies of the Data/Catalogs folders before doing anything.
However, I would make sure this isn't a Microsoft issue with the clusters not failing over corerectly!
Thanks!
