Backup Exec 2012 Media sets not writing

Created: 13 Aug 2014 • Updated: 14 Aug 2014 | 2 comments
This issue has been solved. See solution.

I'm running BE 2012 on a 2008 R2 server and use external HDD's for backup media.

I only use one HDD at a time and change them daily. I was out of the office for one day and my fellow admin forgot to change the backup media while I was gone, so that night's job got stuck in a loop due to full media.

Now two of my devices have a pencil with a line through it and fail to start jobs.

Is there anything I can do besides doing a full reinstall of BE?

Thanks,

Hi,

because the drives were unplugged longer than usual see if the device setting for "limit Backup Exec to Read Only Operations on Disk Based Storage if the device has been detached ... " needs to be adjusted. Click on the BE button > Configuration and Settings > Backup Exec Settings and adjust the number of days

Thanks Imosla!

I had to take off my noob glasses and went to each device and changed it's read-only property to No as well as adjust the detachment limit. smiley
