Backup Exec 2012 vs Restoring from DAG

Created: 09 Dec 2013 | 3 comments

Hello,

I want to test a restore of specific items in my Exchange mailbox, from the DAG backup I took.

When I go to the selection list, open my mailbox and go to "inbox" to see what can be restored, I have the following.  (look at the right pane in the image)

If I go down the list, I can still see some of my emails but what are these objects and what should I do with that ?

Thanks

IPM stands for interpersonal message, this are hidden messages which has the various configuration information eg. calender reminders in outlook are stored in ipm.configuration.calendar, please have look at the articles below for more information

ok but in a "restore" point of view,  do we need to restore these objects or we only need to restore the object we want (email, calendar, task, etc....) and Backup Exec will take care of using these files if necessary.

Thanks to confirm.

from the restore pointof if you want to restoreentire mailbox than this objects would be needed, however you just want to restore an email or calendar item than its not needed to restore the IPM subtree
