Backup Exec 2012: What and how many licenses I need

Created: 05 Sep 2013 | 4 comments

Hi All,

I have 3 Windows servers.  One server will be my Backup Exec server.  Another server is a SQL server and the last one will be a regular file server.  I want to backup all servers using Backup Exec?  How many licenses would I need with this kind of setup.  Also what type of licenses ( e.g. RAWS, RALUS, Application and Database ) do I need for this kind of setup?  I am planning to use Backup Exec 2012 in this scenario.

You will need

1 x BE core licence for your media (BE) server

1 x Agent for Applications and Databases licence for your SQL machine

1 x Agent for Windows System for the file server.

Do verify this with the Symantec Licencing department before making any purchase.
