Backup Exec Agent for Application and Database

Created: 11 Feb 2014 | 4 comments

Hi,

I got the following Servers:

Server 1: Windows 2000 - as a Domain Controller

Server 2: Windows 2003 - as a Domain Controller

Question: Correct me if I am wrong.

1. Does Agent for Application and Database support Windows 2000 Active Directory ?

I guess its not supported. Since, Windows 2000 OS is not supported by Backup Exec 2012

2. Does Agent for Application and Database support Windows 2003 Active Directory ?

3. What funtional level should my Domain and Forest be in order to be supported by Agent for Application and Database?

Thanks,

Paul

Paul,

You are correct; Backup up Exec 2012 will not support backups for a Windows 2000 Server. It can however, support backups of a 2003 SP2 Active Directory Server. You can refer to the Software Compatibility List and the Admin Guide for more information.

Thanks for the reply.

By the way the Domain and Forest Functional Level is set to Windows 2000.

Do I need to upgrade the funtional level to atleast 2003 ?

Paul,

I have checked around with several members of our support team here to confirm my answer in regards to your question about the Domain and Forest Function Level, and it is advised to upgrade, but not a requirement.
