I've encountered an on going problem since the beginning of Janurary 2012 where the backup process procduces the following error and fails to successfully run a backup job.

Backup Exec - Version:11d 6235

Windows 2003 Server

E0001050: Backup Exec encountered an unexpected error.

The job will run for roughly 03:45:00 hh:mm:ss and fail at approximately the same time during the job within 15-20mins of each fail.

Updates Installed:

  • Service Pack 3
  • Hot Fix 35
  • Hot Fix 38
  • Hot Fix 39

Please help me resolve this "unknown/unexpected" error, so I can succesfully run back up jobs.

Thank You.

Okay...

Can any assistance be provided for Version 6235, which is what was stated as my current version in the first post?

Is the software no longer supported, do I need to upgrade or will this still be a problem with newer versions of the software. This has been a on going problem for months and I'm unable to get a straight answer from phone support or on the forums here.

Thanks...

RE: Okay...

I'd suggest the free upgrade to build 7170 if you cannot get approval to upgrade to 2010 R3.  This will accept your 6235 serials and was MUCH more stable

Dont forget SP5 and the latest DDI (drivers)

I was not aware of the

I was not aware of the upgrade as an option. I was under the assumption that I'd need a whole new software suite with new keys etc.

I'll give this a shot and see if any progress is made and will report my findings back.

Thank you.

Your BE 12 licence keys would

Your BE 12 licence keys would not work with BE 12.5.  You would need a new set of keys.  If you are on a current maintenance contract, then you can upgrade for free.  In this case, you might as well upgrade to BE 2010 R3 which is the latest version.  You can upgrade straight from BE 12 to BE 2010 R3.
