This issue has been solved. See solution.

I have problems when I create a user manually or imported into the DLO, I send the error message "unable to validate user.
Please check user name is valid ", I am using DLO service account that is not a domain administrator,
and I need to know if this is the problem. I made several of this option to backup exec for windows server
but using a domain administrator account and has not given me problems.
I wonder what privileges must have the service account to configure users
active directory backup exec and power to create them.

Hello, I faced the same

Hello,

I faced the same problem. I resolved it by:

1) Start > Run > regedit
2) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Symantec > DLO > AdminConsole > User Interface
3) A new DWORD Key is added: New > DWORD Value
3) Name: SelectUserGroupValidate
4) Value: 0

I had to restart the server and I was able to add an user without any issues after that!

Hope this helps....

Its a best practice to have a "Support Contract" with Symantec...

Whevere a user first uses DLO

Whevere a user first uses DLO the system cerates a folder for them in the NUDF and assigns permissions to the folder so that in theory) only the user and an admin can access the folder. If you tale away too many permission from service accounst this process can fail.

Note as far as I am aware though its is the user that runs the SQL Service for the instance the holds the DLO database that actually does the folder creation and file system permisions as I think SQL calls an external procedure to do it.

The DLO Admin Serivice user will almost certainly need more permission than Domain User as well though - particularly as it has to access the SQL database and teh Maintenacne Service (which can run on a different system) over network protocols/

Thank you very much for the

Thank you very much for the response from you, but I need to validate that the user account is not
have permission when I try to add a user to active directory backup exec desktop and laptop option.
I wonder if it must be a domain administrator account.
I am using to store data from a 2503i HP D2D enable NAS (CIFS protocol) will create an account
local, but when you create it in the backup exec desktop and laptop option as a storage location also leaves me
access error.
