This issue has been solved. See solution.

When will backup exec support MS SQL 2012? (Although it's still not listed as officially supported in the document I found, I have tried and it seems I can backup but it's not listed in the restore options.)

Hi,

If not listed on the BE 2012 SCL, then the answer is no. You'd be backing it up at your own risk and would be responsible for testing restores. Any issues with this and Symantec is not obliged to help you.

Keep an eye on the SCL as this will indicate when SQL 2012 is supported...

Thanks!

The BE 2012 SCL does list SQL 2012 and SQL 2012 SP1 as supported.  See page 27 of the SCL below

BE 2012 SCL

You need to be on at least BE 2012 SP2.

SP3 has now (via a few Symantec support attempts) been installed and I can see SQL as a restore option on one server. Not the second server, unfortunately. More fun awaits...
