Backup Exec SBS Trial
Hey guys
I've downloaded a trial of SBS Backup Exec from the Trial Download center. When I come to install it, it starts as Symantec Backup Exec 12.5 for Windows Server. (nothing about SBS). Do I need any additional agents to trial it on my Small Business Sever 2008?
Regards,
Kirrte
hi Kirrte
It would not show up anything on the install wizard.about SBS , its the license which states Backup exec for SBS . I mean when you install the license for SBS it would have exchange and Sql showing under licensed option . When installing in evalution you need to select the exchange agent and the Sql agent in evaluation .

So just Agent for Exchange
So just Agent for Exchange and SQL, but how about Share Point and Active Directory?
There is no way to eval just
There is no way to eval just the SBS license for Backup Exec. If you want to evaluate certain agents such as SQL, Sharepoint/MOSS, Exchange, Active Directory, then just select those agent during the install without installing any license keys. This will allow you upto 60 days to eval each agent.
When you get to the screen in the install that asks for your licenses, just click next and OK on the message that pops up. On the next screen you will be able to select the agents you wish to evaluate. If you have already installed Backup Exec and want to add more agents to evaulate, then open Backup Exec and go to the Tools - Install Options and Licenses... Then follow the previously noted steps to add more agents.

After installing the sbs
After installing the sbs license , you need to purchase the additional License for the other agent which you want to use like Sharepoint as it is not included with SBS license

Thanks for your explanations
Thanks for your explanations RahulG and Ben. Becasue I'm a complete novice to backup I have few more question :) In the need of complete disaster recovery, have I got enough backed up with these 2 agents (Exchange and SQL)? I'm also planning to use Backup Exec System Recovery as an additional backup solution and make virtual conversions at the end of each day.
And another thing, is there a complete HOW TO guide for dummies on Backup Exec and Backup Exec System Recovery?
