Backup Exec service error

By scheduled backups are all running fine every day, but if I try to manually do anything, like clean a drive or export a tape, I get this error:
"Export Media 00013 -- The job failed with the following error: The Backup Exec job engine system service is not responding."
I checked the Backup Exec services under the Tools menu, and it says "Started". I tried restarting them and they restart successfuly
Please help!

Yes, it required a full re-install of the BE software and firmware updates on the device before it started function properly again.
