The Backup Exec SQL Agent was not used to create the last full backup of this database

using sql 2008 sp1 with backup exec 2010

I am having problems backing up a sql database with transaction logs, i get the following error:

The item server\database in use - skipped.
V-79-57344-867 - The Backup Exec SQL Agent was not used to create the last full, differential, or log backup of this database. You must use the SQL Agent to run a full backup before you can run a differential backup or transaction log backup.

I looked at http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/301508.htm and followed point 1 and this showed that all my databases were being backed up at set times:
01:11, 05:11, 09:11, 13:11, 17:11, 21:11 everyday
The name is null in the database list

I waited until 13:11 and then grabbed a sql trace which showed the sqlwriter doing the backup.

This is a new server that doesnt have any maintenance plans or job setup.

I checked the old sql server that is being replaced (sql 2005) and its doing the same thing.

Any ideas on what is causing these backups and how to stop it?  I checked the usuall sql agent jobs and windows taks but cant find what is triggering it.

There may be some maintenance plan created in SQL which could be performing database backups every 4 hours and hence you are getting the error mentioned. You can check the same under <ServerName> -> Management -> Maintenance Plans in SQL Server Management Studio. You can edit the maintenance plans to select everything you want except backing up DBs and logs.
