Hi,

I'm looking at upgrading to v12.5 asap.  I know i can do an upgrade which will keep all my jobs etc but what do i need to do in regard of the remote agents?  If i upgrade the BE server first, do i need to upgrade all the agents at the same time or will the older remote agent versions still work with 12.5?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Matt

 It will use the older

It will use the older agents, but give you a warning that the agents should be upgraded.  When we upgraded from 11d to 12, it gave warnings in the job logs, but they still completed with all data backed up.

You should always upgrade all

You should always upgrade all the agents when installing SP´s, Hotfix or other versions of BE in the Media Server. Otherwise your data may backup inconsistenly.

upgrade them as well

hi matt,

bjash is right, job log will give you a warning that the agents should be upgraded as well. After upgrading the remote agent on all your clients, make sure to update hotfix/service pack as well. Copy the Remote Agent installation files from C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\Agents\RAWS32 (for 32bit) or C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\Agents\RAWSX64 (for x64bit) to the server where the Remote Agent is installed. Once copied run the setupaa.cmd file to update the Remote Agent.

Upgrade to 12.5

Hi Matt,

As the other guys already mentioned, you should upgrade all the other agents manually. For most of the server the upgrade should run without any issues. But, you will need to reboot any Oracle or Domino server after the agent upgrade.
