This issue has been solved. See solution.

Media-Server: W2k8R2 standard, fully patched, BackupExec 2012, SP1,HF180964,199866,200433,199190,201596,203574,205111

H-V-Host: W2k8R2 Enterprise, fully patched, Agent installed, full backup no GRT

H-V-Guests: 2 x W2003 (no agent installed) and 2 x W2k8R2 standard (agent for sql-backup installed)

Backup fails with V-79-57344-37953 Agent incompatible, although we installed the agent 3 times successfully. Counting the GB's we did backup the guest

and can select the vm's in the restore-job. Does BE2012 requires to install the agent on all 4 vm's?

IF you have App/GRT configured for use within the backup job then you would need to install/update the agent within the VM. Be sure to upgrade all remote agents after you upgrad the media server

1. Is the meesage that you got in the job log an error or a warning.

2. Is Hyper-V GRT disabled on this job.

3. Try and upgrade to BE 2012 SP2 as it fixes a lot of issues.

4. Also, to verify if the remote agent was upgraded properly compare the version of beremote.exe (present in Backup Exec install directory) from the media server with the remote server. This needs to be the same.

reply to Donald Eady: GRT is disabled, all agents same version/updated

reply to Jaydeep S:

1) yes, Backup fails with V-79-57344-37953

2) already mentioned above

3) will be the next step, tomorrow

4) versions of beremote.exe identical on media server, h-v-host and h-v-guests: 14.0.1798.0

Installed Sp2 and the latest Hotfix 209149, error-message about incompatible agent disappeared.
