Hi,

This weekend important offline backup did not started as per schedule, so we initiated manually.

What was the reason for this? Please give your inputs on this.

Backup schedule through NBU only.

Let me know if you need more information.

Look at Figure 15-16 Schedule selection overview in NBU Admin Guide I:

Find last backup data -> For calendar based schedules, add days until next run day -> ....

When any of the following events occurs, NetBackup recalculates which schedule
to run next in a policy:

This weekend offline bacukp

This weekend offline bacukp manually started at 16:35 hrs.

we schedule this backup in alternate weekends.

last time this server has some issue, so SAP team initiated this backup through scripts, by that time the actual policy is deactivated so it took the some other policy to run the offline backup.

you had schedule the schedule

you had schedule the schedule day to be 29 of June 2013 witch is Saturday (SPECIFIC DATE 32 - 06/29/2013)

But the open window of Automatic Full Backup id open only at Sunday (Sunday 15:00:00 --> Sunday 24:00:00)

That's why the backup did not run. Schedule days must have an open window to run.

What you must do is one of the following:

  • match the scheduled days to be Sunday.
  • open the backup window on the same day as the schedule day (Saturday). Open all days is a good choice if you do not schedule the same day every time.
  • check the "retries allowed after run day" (not recommended unless you know what it is)

Do not apply all, only one
