How much data are you backing up on that first server, and what LTO tapes are you using? Also, what are your Append/Overwrite Protection (OPP) settings at for the media set you are using?

Your issue is 1 of 2 things:

1. You're backing up too much data to fit onto 1 tape for the first server, and it is ejecting the tape/there isn't a second tape in the library;

2. Your Append/OPP settings are incorrect and the media is set disallow subsequent writes.

Alternative ways to access Backup Exec Technical Support:

Thanks for you reply.

1. My tape is 1,5TB, backup data < 500GB

Check the append period in your media set. If it is too short then your other jobs will not be able to append

Thanks for your reply.

Backup job settings:

- Media set: keep Data for 4 weeks

- When this job begins: Append to media, overwrite if no appendable media is available

- The media can be appended to for six days (default)

Under Backup exec settings, under Media Managament what option is selected? Is is set to Partial?

I use Symantec backup 2012, please show me how to check Media Management, and which selection is correct?

Click on the BE button ---> Configuration and Settings ---> Backup Exec Settings and check that the Overwrite Protection Level is set to Partial or Full.  It should NOT be set to None.

Are all your jobs started at the same time?  If so, stagger them.  See point 4 of my article below

Thanks for your reply.

In Backup Exec Settings:

Partial - protect only allocated media
And checked Prompt before overwriting import media
My job schedue is: the first job start at 7:00 PM, second job start at 11:00 PM, third job start at 2:00 AM next day
I have tested, I run first job, after completely I run next job but can not write to tape

Has the previous job finished before the next job starts?  The jobs should not overlap and run at the same time.

With one job, I can backup to one tape, and this job can append to tape, but the other jobs can not run with that tape.

I want to set up many jobs backup to one tape per day.

Please help me to solve.
