Backup online VirtualBox

Created: 25 Apr 2013 • Updated: 09 May 2013 | 2 comments
This issue has been solved. See solution.

We have Backup Exec installed on Windows Server 2008 R2, the server is also hosting a virtual machine running on Oracle Virtualbox.

Would Backup Exec backup the virtual machine while running?

Such as the database files, log files on the virtual machie sitting on D: Drive, would they be backed up in real time?

Cheers,

Hannah

BE does not support the backup of Virtualbox VM's.  If you want to backup these VM's, you got to back them up as if they are physical machines. You would need to purchase and install on the media server a RAWS/RALUS licence for each VM and then load RAWS/RALUS onto the VM's.

and to add to pkh's statement - as a database on the D: drive inside teh VM has been mentioned then you will probably need the appropriate application agent license and configuration to backup the database itself. (assuming the database itself is supported by Backup Exec)
