Backup oracle (active/passive) in a HP UX Cluster environment

This issue has been solved. See solution.

Some enquires that i have backing of oracle database in a HP UX Cluster environment.

 

1. For the Client selection name, should i put physical db server name or the virtual hostname of the database

 

2. if the database is a SAN Media server, do i add the physical db server hostname or the virtual hostname to the additional server list on the master server?

Yes for 1. Use virtual name.

For 2, you need to configure appcluster with virtual name first. Then add both virtual and physical names into server list. For more detail about appcluster, please chech High Availability Guide page 20 - About protecting against SAN media server failures.
