Backup Over SAN

Dear All ,

I'm configuring the backup over SAN and through the documents it only mentioned the Qlogic Cards so does this mean that the Backup over SAN option only supported with the Qlogic Cards ? or this is only from the FT media Server side ??

I mean if there is customer with already configured netbackup clients & already installed HBA Cards connected to the storage on which the data resides and connected to the tape library  by which the backup is taken , in this case Can't I configure the backup over SAN ( the FT Media Server & the SAN clients ) because they don't have Qlogic Cards ??

Note that :

The Media Server which will be  the FT media server has Qlogic Cards but the client which will be the netbackup SAN client is HP server with Linux installed and Brocade 815 HBA Cards installed so can  I here configure the backup over SAN (the FT Media Server & the SAN client) ?

Netbackup 7.5 is the  master server and the clients is netbackup 6.5

Thanks in Advance :)

Firsly, upgrade your clients to 7.5.

SAN Client and FT media server is 'tricky' enough to configure. If you encounter issues on the client side, you will not be able to log a support call.

QLogic is requirement for your Linux and/or Solaris FT media servers (not client) - see HCL: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH76495
