Backup Performance Killed with Symantec Endpoint Protection 11 Installation
Updated: 02 Mar 2009
I've just completed an install to my network of SEP 11. I was running SAV 10.1.4 on my network before the install. I've noticed that since installing SEP 11 my Backup Exec 11d 7171 w/sp1 performance has slowed quite a bit. I have setup the necessary auto-protect policies to not "Scan when file is backed up" and I also have setup the necessary auto-protect centralized exceptions for several of the Backup Exec 11d process files like bengine.exe, beremote.exe... However, even though I've setup these policies and they do appear to be pushed correctly to the servers, I can still clearly see in the Auto-Protect Scan statistics that files currently in backup processing are being scanned in realtime. With SAV 10, all of these exceptions worked just fine. If I disable the SEP 11 client/services, my Backup Exec performance goes back up again.
I did perform a full removal of SAV 10.1.4 from my servers before I installed SEP 11. I did NOT perform an upgrade installation. I performed a clean install.
Thanks for any thoughts.
