I have this scenario with Backeup Exec 2012:

about 20 server are replicated throught DoubleTaKe from production enviromnent to a Vmware cluster for disaster recovery purposes. Those server are powerd off, I can't install anything on them so no Backup Exec agent is installed. I need to backup this 20 server. I Think I can use the Vmware agent to backup via Virtual Center but I need to install the agent for APP and DB on backup server to protect sql on the target machine or with granular restore I can recover sql without the agent ? I have to install the Windows Agent on target server ?

If you do not install the BE remote agent in the VM's, then you cannot do any GRT restores of either files or daabases.
