backup & restore performance

how to improve backup and restore performance(For example I am running a backup or restore operation it is taking 10 hours (consider ) then I need it  to finish  it within 5 hours or below mean as early as possible is it possible or not if possible means how Give me an example )

Usually tape restore take at least 1.5 time the backup time. The MPX factor plays a leading role here.

Assumption is the mother of all mess ups.

can u give any simple example for that (Usually tape restore take at least 1.5 time the backup time)?

can u tell me how to restore as faster as backup and can u give an example for that ?

Example: Your backup took 2 hours

According to Nicolai's point (which is true), the restore for the same data would take at least 3 hours, this is assuming MPX=1. It would take longer if you set higher MPX (multiplex) value.
