Backup Solution

Dear all

I am new-bee to netbackup and worked little on software...

In my DC setup several SUN SOLARIS servers are der...

Wanna take OS backup .. online and offline (single user mode)

Please suggest me options.. as its PROD critical servers so recommded is online...

How to do it.. i have started readning DOCs but its taking longer than i thought..

I can create policies and manage tapes I am taking backup of SAP data, but real challange is how to take complete OS backup for future need and i m able to restore it...

You will not be able to take backups in single-user mode as your system will have no network.

NetBackup has a Bare Metal Restore option that is built into the standard client binaries - no extra license needed. 

You did not mention your NBU version but marked '7.1 or earlier'.

NetBackup also has an agent to enable hot, online backups of SAP data. You need a separate agent for that.  The 7.1 manual can be found here:

Seeing that you are new to NBU, it is best to first of all browse through Admin Guide I. This will give you a good understanding of all the basics before going on to Agents and Options.

thanx for your help...

In prduction site we have NB 6.5 .... we ar eplanning to update to 7.5.... need help there also..

In DR site I have NB 7.0 i have already started building BMR clients .. I can do RnD der...

any suggetion for me how to proceed with it??? I have started BMR and created SRT's for Solaris 10..I will try to take BMR and then restore it...

provide some docs for update ... which is good version to update to from 6.5..
