I am running Backup Exec 10.1 Rev 5629 on a Windows 2003 R2 SP 2 and the speed of the backup is not consistent, some nights it runs for nine hours, than five hours, and then 3.5 hours.  I am using the latest Dell drivers on the tape drive at the recommendation of Dell 6.0.6.8 on an LTO 3 drive.  Nothing unusual in the system or application logs, no changes to the file systems, no server reboots.  I run only full backups on this system Monday through Friday night.

I am stumped.

Thanks

Hi Michael, Are you running

Hi Michael,

Are you running any virus scans, or server software maintenance tasks on the various nights? Anything like night shift happening where people may be working on files? Any application that might be pulling reports during your backup window?
Have you looked at starting your jobs a bit earlier to see if it eliminates the varying speed?

Laters!

Nothing unusual is running at

Nothing unusual is running at night.  No changes, this is one of 72 systems I have all configured the same way.
