Backup a VMWare Machine

Created: 10 Mar 2010 • Updated: 13 Sep 2010 | 2 comments

Hello all, I am new to the product so please advice and teach me if possible....thanks

I have a Backup Exec 12.5 running on Windows 2003 R2 Server, and I have a VMWare ESXi 4.0 installed in another local machine on the same network...

How can I point the selection (source) to the local VMWare machine? and how am I select which Virtual Machine inside the VMWare Server machine to backup? (currently there are 3 Virtual machines with different names)

I know I might not be informative, let me know if you guys want to know anything, thanks

To backup virtual machines, you would need the Backup Exec Agent for VMware Virtual Infrastructure.

It's ESXi, and not VMware Essentials...

Just purchase 3 standard agents for Windows or linux.  Thats also cheaper than the virtual agent for vmware.

There is an online portal, save yourself the long hold times. Create ticket online, then call in with ticket # in hand :-) http://mysupport.symantec.com "We backup data to restore, we don't backup data just to back it up."
