This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hi guys, Im having alot of trouble with this new backup Im trying to create. The client is an XP SP3 machine, Master backup/media server is a Windows 2003. Both have Netbackup 6.5.4 client and server installed respectively. And both client and server can resolve each others DNS and talk to each other.

I am running a regular Windows-NT backup and it is continually hanging about 9 files in. I have got one successful backup, but it took about 5 hours to complete and it was no more than a few MB's. All of my server to server backups are completing without any issues. This is the first time I've tried to backup an XP machine. The Windows Firewall is switched off.

I am attaching the bpcd log, its not giving any errors as far as I could tell but any further help would be greatly appreciated.

2 things

1) you need to review bpcd log from the client

2) this log from the master says "NetBackup 6.5 0"

good Will backing-up

Check that client network

Check that client network card is set to full duplex.

Also have a look at client's bpbkar log and bptm and bpbrm logs on media server.

Supporting Storage Foundation and VCS on Unix and Windows as well as NetBackup on Unix and Windows.

Marianne, I was worried that

Marianne, I was worried that the solution to this was going to be blatently obvious...and it was!

I can't believe I never checked the net card on the client, of all things.

You were right, the card was on Auto. Once I set it to 100/f is kicked off properly.

Thanks to the both of you.
