Backupexec 11d

Created: 04 Jul 2012 • Updated: 11 Aug 2012 | 11 comments

Hi Team,

We are using Backupexec 11d. We are running one backup, the job was failed. I checked in job history properties It's shows all back status are completed.

In Job history job status shows failed but no information about "why the job was failed". Pls let me know why it is not showing error information about the job or any way to findout the job failed reason.

Hi,

Check the Alerts tab and see if anything shows up there. Alternatively, you can increase the amount of logging that can be done. Do so under the Tools --> Options section, and see what it displays on the next backup run.

Just be aware that this will increase the size of the job log, so if you have the details you are looking for, don't forget to reset it.

Thanks!

No idea...that's what you need to look into!

Is this a new occurrence, or has it been happening for a while? And...which revision of 11d are you running? r. 6235 or r. 7170? If the older version (6235) then upgrade to 7170 as this fixed a number of issues with 6235...

Thanks!

Are you backing up any shares or NAS devices without any remote agent installed ?

Hi VJware,

Yes i'm backup the disk drives in server, the drives having some share folders.

If I recall, shares backup shows backup status as failed, however the data itself was successfuly backed up (failure due to remote agent not being present)...

As a test, try a test restore to see if the data can be actually restored or not...secondly, de-select the shares from the backup & see if the job completes successfully or not...

Hi VJware,

Restore is not possible. because the data size is more than 2TB. if there is any issue for we can take the backup for share folder. and why it is occurred we try to take the backup for share folder. pls let me know.

..are you backing up the data on the drives as well as the shares on the same server? Are you sure you're not backing up the data twice?

Backup is one time not a twice. I only backup the drives in that server. but some folders are shared.

Data backup is one time.

...ok, so if you're not backing up the share and it's just the drives, then increase the level of logging tonight and post what it says.

You also never answered me on which version of 11d you're running (rev. 6235 or rev. 7170). And is your media server fully patched, and have these patches been push-installed to any remote servers?

Lastly, you can also check the Alerts tab in BE to see if it shows anything there relating to your failed jobs.
