BackupExec 12.5 Backup to Disk Clarification

Created: 23 Apr 2013 | 4 comments

Hello, we have two backed to disk jobs.. one is to a local sata and another to an external USB. Both use overwrite. I went to do a test restore and I noiticed I could only restore back two days back. The drives are 1TB and full backup job uses about 280gb. Would it be possible to set say a 14day retention or would I need bigger drives? I can't really do incrementals because we are backing us SQL and Exchange. Thanks

280GB is 2 days of backups?

140GB x 14 days = 1960GB, or 1.9TB of backups.

You need bigger disks.

There is an online portal, save yourself the long hold times. Create ticket online, then call in with ticket # in hand :-) "We backup data to restore, we don't backup data just to back it up."

In addition to bigger disks, you would also need to set your OPP to a longer period.

...this is done on the media set itself.
