From what I have read, if you want to use the new VMware Data Recovery, and get your backups onto tape, you will still need to use VCB, at least for the time being. I also heard that VCB 1.5 update 1 will be the last version of VCB, and that the new backup APIs in vSphere are going to be the *new* way to backup your VMs. (Not 100% sure this is true, however).

Has anyone heard when BE will support the new Data Recovery for backup to tape, possibly through an update the existing VMware agent to support vSphere? I'm hoping this ability comes sooner rather than later.
