BackupEXEC 2010 - 0xe000fe30 - A communications failure has occurred.

Created: 12 Apr 2010 | 2 comments

I opened my case at 8:30 am EST this morning and still have not been able to speak to anyone at support. 3.5 hours on hold!

I have 3 Exchange 2010 servers that I am trying to backup from my BackupEXEC 2010 media server. The media server has all available hotfixes and the 3 Exchange servers have the remote agent that I pushed from the BackupEXEC 2010 media server. The media server running BackupEXEC is running on Windows Server 2008 R2 with all available updates.

My backup job is failing with 0xe000fe30 - A communications failure has occurred.. The remote agent on all 3 servers is crashing during the backup. I go in and start the remote agent service, but it just keeps crashing when trying to backup the server. How do I resolve this problem?

Hi Will,

Have you looked at removing your RAWS agents, and then reinstalling them via the push install?
Is your service account a member of the local admins group on each server? If they aren't answering, I would also suggest calling them back and raising the call to critical level. Which obviously it is if you aren't able to back up your Exchange servers...when it is at that level, you tend to wait a lot less, as the call queues are shorter...

Laters!
