Backups and media

Created: 03 Feb 2005 • Updated: 23 May 2010 | 4 comments

Hi,

When you perform a backup it will create a catalog where it says "media created (tape name)" in here you can select what you want to restore or to backup again. (you can make a selection)

Once in a while I see jobs that have backupped a large amount of data in a differential backup but then something went wrong and the job will give an error. How come that I can not see this job catalog for the data it did backup, is this standard behaviour ?

Regards
A van der Boom

Kindly refer the following steps as mentioned in the technote link given below.

Title:- What is the "Use storage media-based catalogs" option in VERITAS Backup Exec (tm) and what are the effects of clearing this checkbox?

http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/200962.htm

And,

Title:- How to initiate a restore operation from the Media tab in Backup Exec 8.x or 9.x for Windows Servers

http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/236258.htm

We hope this helps. Let us know if the problem still exists and revert back with the error message.
