Hello Sri,

Please check the article "".

1) Are the Netbackup server and client able to ping each other via IP and hostname?

2) Are you using the host file or DNS for name resolution?

If DNS is used, do both forward/reverse lookups work?

I see some temp fixes/kindly suggest me permanent fixes?

If you make changes in the envronment how could it be permanentsmiley

Please check the hostname resolution from media server to client ane vice versa.

Try below from media to client and client to media

Bpclntcmd -hn clientname
Bpclntcmd -ip client ip
Bptestbpcd -client clientname

If there is name resolution issue resolve it otherwise

Create a bpcd log dir on client and do bptestbpcd from media server

Please post client's bpcd log.

Check in bpcd log for incoming request from media server. See if client can resolve IP address to hostname that corresponds with SERVER entry on client.

If changes have been made recently, please remember to clear NBU host cache - even on client:
bpclntcmd -clear_host_cache

also clear ipconfig /flushdns

You got to add the entries in the host files

UNIX - /etc/hosts

WINDOWS - C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

It is not resolving .your client xhc-pme-01

Are you able to ping xhc-pme-01.

Try nslookup for xhc-pme-01 and see if it resolves. Try nslookup for and check if it shows xhc-pme-01.

If hostname is not getting resolved then make sure your dns is working fine, you have to check with admin why it is not resolving. You can put host entries on server but not a great idea, it should get resolved.

Also is this client added recently? any recent changes.

In addition to SAZZ updates on bpcd logging update the following.

bpclntcmd -clear_host_cache - to clear cache value on servers

Incase of windows make sure you have the master/media servers entires listed in the registry to avoid backup faling with Err # 59. on UNIX machines you can do them by editing bp.conf file.

This should help you to run the backup sucessfully. If it fails please post the bpcd log file.

Great good to know that!

Now please do below steps to get it going immediately

bpclntcmd -clear_host_cache

also clear ipconfig /flushdns

or wait for 15 -20 minutes:)

still backup is failing with 48

Verify comms between media server and the client in the same way you did from master to client.
