Backups failing with 11d, VSS since installing Storage Foundation

We have been using 11d successfully for quite some time now.  Last week, we installed Storage Foundation on the server and set it up to manage one RAID5 volume (E:\).  Since that time, we have been getting 100% failures on our backup jobs for C:\, D:\ , Shadow?Copy?Componets and System?State.  We are getting the following error message:

V-79-57344-34110 - AOFO: Initialization failure on: "Shadow?Copy?Components". Advanced Open File Option used: Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS).
VSS Snapshot Error.  The Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) snapshot provider that you selected does not support snap technology for this volume.  Select another snapshot provider, and then run the job again.

I tried switching to the Storage Foundation snapshot provider, and got the identical errors.  Any ideas on this?  Thanks so much!

I have this same problem, when backing up Exchange (2007) Storage Group Databases. It actually started happening when we updated Exchange with Service Pack 1. Although it wasn't 100% failures all the time, but Backup Exec does produce the same message. I've read from earlier threads in this forum that this happens when local replication is used for echange storage groups. And when replication is not used, the problem will not occur.

We need to find a resolution for this!

I'm receiving the same errors when backing up several SQL databases.  The error goes away and I am able to get successful backups for 2-4 days after a reboot, but nothing from Microsoft has worked.

Any help or ideas is greatly appreciated.

We found that by removing the Shadow Copies Components from the backup job selection list, the backups now succeed.  Hope that helps!
