    Hi everybody,

I am using PGP Desktop professional 10.2.

This morning my computer was restarted. I put in my passphrase and presse enter.

Nothing happens, just a black screen. After a while I restarted the computer. Now everytime I do just a black screen appears saying; bootguard with a blinking cursor behind it. There is absolutely no reaction when typing.

On another restart I switched to teh boot menu and choose "start from DVD" - it doesn´t happen and I came out again with the black crenn and bootguard.

Has anybody had this also. What can I do to get my computer restarted?

    Regards

    Uwe

It sounds like you need to decrypt the disk to recover from this.  This Knowledge Base Article will help for a Windows machine.  This KBA for a Mac.  You can also attempt decryption by attaching the disk to another computer with PGP installed.  If you use the WDE Recovery CD, be aware that this is only 16 bit processing that can take up to several days to complete depending on your hardware and disk size, the decryption must not be stopped until completed, that when it states 0% remaining encrypted there is still 1% remaining, and that decryption is not complete until it actually states this.

Were you able to resolve this?

    Hi Tom,

I am sorry for not answering for such a long time. I had some stress at the end of last year.

So it took a while to try your solution.

Yes, it worked. I bought an external device to read the disk and was able to decrypt it with another computer.

    Now, avery thing works well.

    Thank you

    Uwe
