    Hi

We have SEPM version 12.1.4 MP1a installed on Windows 2008 Server

Total number of clients communicating are 2300.

We have 140 location and configured GUP for distributing definitions update.

We need to how much bandwidth should be alloted for Symantec Endpoint Protection application

    Regards

    Sameer

    Check this discussion

    "

each heartbeart (currently 2 hours for you) is approximately 3KB in size, plus any logs that need to be sent, logs are sent compressed and we never send more than 100 per heartbeat session (by default)

For the GUPs? Or for what? This really depends on your links, there is no clear cut answer here and is dependent on your environment which only you know about.

Yeah, this is always difficult to judge crying

The fact of the matter is that the amount used for the heartbeats and definitions is going to be different everyday, and will depend on (amongst other things) the client activity as well as the number of new signatures added by Symantec.

As far as the bandwidth throttling options between the GUP and the SEPM goes however, try to ensure this is high enough to allow the GUP to download a single copy of the full defs within a reasonable time frame (just in case a client ever needs the full defs over the deltas).

Some sizing info can be found in the below article:

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Symantec community.

There is not any thumb rule to allot certain bandwidth for Symantec Endpoint Protection. There must be sufficient bandwidth between the GUP and the SEPM to allow the GUP to download the full and delta definition packages being requested by SEP clients. The larger the spread of definition revisions used by the clients, the larger the bandwidth utilization between the SEPM and the GUP

Your network bandwidth usage is greater than normal?

I would recommend to go through the following articles.
