Bandwidth Utilization
Created: 19 Dec 2012 | 11 comments
Hi,
Do we have any option to stop the updates from sepm to client machines when the bandwidth utilization goes high on specific branch machines?
Will the update download stop soon or will it take time to come to normal ?
Regards,
Anish

NO, this type option not available SBE 12.1.You can block Firewall port
You can configure GUP but i Think you are using SBE 12.1 (GUP Configure Option not available in Small business edition)

Hi Ashish,
We have GUP option. GUP is configured for every branch.
Even after uncheking the download options from Communication settings, the bandwidth is still seen to utilise heavy bandwidth. Iam really confused with this..!!!!!!

Hi,
Client PC receives updates from SEPM server. We have a SEPM server from where updates are sent to branch location. Each branch location are having around 10 computers in which one computer is assigned as GUP.

Hi,
There are two sitiuations:
1. GUP is updated but still bandwidth utilization. In that case, we go ahead stopping the update download. But still it can be seen to utilize the network even after stopping the update download.
2. GUP is outdated and still the same case as above..
Please suggest whether this is a known issue with the product or should we make any changes in current settings.

Anish

Hi,
Could you please confirm SEPM edition because Group Update Proivder feature is not available in Small Business Edition.
It's available only in Enterprise Edition.

Pete,
From the monitoring tool, it shows the bandwidth consumed from different applications for that branch. While checking the tool when we are getting complains from branches, the Symantec server ip address is showing the max utilization.
