Barcode Reading from new library doesn't match

 Hi,

Currently I have 1 Master and 2 Media Servers. Each media svr has a different library. Recently we upgraded Media Svr B to another library.

But I found that the tapes ID generation is a bit different from the previous libraries.

I have changed the barcode media generation to 6:5:4:3:2:1 for testing but the media ID generated is still 1:2:3:4:5:6. This part is done over at Media Svr B.

E.g. Tape barcode is A00001L3

Another problem I found is that the media ID generated is like this
A000001      Barcode (A000001)
A000002      Barcode (A000002)

In other words I can't seem to control the media generation

This is somehow different from my other library which gives the following
A000001      Barcode (A000001L3)
A000002      Barcode (A000002L3)

For this old library, I can modify how the media ID is generated. For example I can set 000001L by using 2:3:4:5:6:7

Just checking anyone knows whether the problem lies with the library or the Netbackup configuration.

hi, barcode id cannt change.

hi, barcode id cannt change. because of it's set  every media server default method . it write to tape . when

you label tape at first time . if you really want to change it , maybe you lost data. redefine the label method of

media  server.

Maybe

Some librarys report the tape type (e.g. L1 L2 L3) some don't. It seems to you got one of each kind.

Assumption is the mother of all mess ups.

If this post solved you’re questions please send a gratitude by marking it as a solution.

might be a silly question

After you changed the bar code rules (Which you are correct you should be able to control) did you re-inventory the robot? You will need to incase you haven't.

Media ID Generation and where you run the console from.

Did you make the Media Id Generation rule while logged onto the same consle you are doing the import from?

See my blog

I don't have to know how to spell....I work on Unix.
